The Contemplative Stitch features 21 works by artists from the United States, Japan, Germany, Australia, and England. Curated by Ilze Aviks, this exhibition examines contemporary approaches to stitch and stitchery as image and technique in both large and small-scale works.

Ilze Aviks, a fiber artist and Visiting Assistant Professor at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, has exhibited her work extensively throughout the United States and has published articles on fiber arts for publications including Surface Design Journal, Contemporary American Textiles, and Fiberarts.

Measure for Measure features 26 examples of artist-designed yardage and presents the work of 22 artists from the United States, Germany, Hungary, and Canada.

Selected from 142 examples of constructed, printed, dyed or otherwise embellished textiles by jurors Ana Lisa Hedstrom and Emily DuBois, these works present a vast array of traditional and technologically advanced methods of creating surface design as an exploration of the artistic potential of lengths of cloth.

Fiber artist Ana Lisa Hedstrom has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the 1989 World Expo, and the Fashion Foundation as part of the Third International Textile Design Contest in Tokyo, Japan. She has also exhibited her work at museums and galleries around the world including the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, NY; The Textile Museum, Washington D.C.; the American Craft Museum, NY; and the British Crafts Center, London, England.

Fiber artist Emily DuBois has received awards from the California Arts Concil, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Handweavers Guild of America. Her works have been presented in numerous one-person and group exhibitions at museums and galleries including the ArtSpace, Tokyo; the Craft and Folk Art Museum, Los Angeles, CA; the Crafts Council Gallery, London, England; and the Bellevue Art Museum, Seattle, WA.

These exhibitions are supported, in part, by the Surface Design Association and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
