Art + Practice: Summer Workshop Series

June 29 – August 24, 2024

The Artspace is pleased to introduce Art + Practice, a series of free, artist-led workshops that highlight the creative potential that lies within materials sourced from nature and brings together artists and social practitioners interested in exploring new approaches and ways of thinking about the landscape and our connections to the natural world.

Art + Practice is a calendar of weekly intimate gatherings at the Artspace and locations within the community for registered attendees to engage in artist-led, hands-on workshops for adults and children (ages 12 and up), who are interested in exploring the creative process.

The workshops will offer participants opportunities for informal interaction and exchange, hands-on experience with communal material gathering through foraging and sourcing reclaimed material, and a communal sharing of the learning process.

Reading Room: Social Practice

June 29 – October 26, 2024

In conjunction with Art + Practice, the Artspace will also host the Reading Room: Social Practice, a curated and evolving selection of books, periodicals, artifacts, and other resources that will explore socially engaged artistic practices and highlight recent projects that engage the civic and natural landscape. Responsive to the concurrent Art + Practice series, this installation in the Artspace Studio will integrate artifacts from Art + Practice workshops as they are hosted; later this fall, it will introduce dynamic and generative partnerships between artists and their creative and community partners in the region.

Reading Room: Social Practice is organized for the Artspace by Rebecca Blocksome, Artspace Public Engagement and Social Practice Coordinator.
