As a serious student who is passionate about your art, we want you to make the dreams for your future a reality and apply to KCAI. All applicants must have completed a recognized, secondary school program or equivalency.

The most important criterion for admission is your potential for success. The admissions committee seeks serious and motivated students willing to take creative risks. The committee understands that each student’s level of imagination, innovation and academic achievement is highly individual. Therefore, each applicant is holistically evaluated with sensitivity and open-mindedness.

Admission Dates + Deadlines

KCAI is now accepting applications for fall 2023. KCAI has a rolling admissions process and after our posted deadlines, application and scholarship review will occur on a case-by-case basis. Submitting your application and supporting materials before the deadline gives the KCAI Admissions office an opportunity to work closely with you and your family.

Fall Admission

December 1 Early Action Deadline
February 1 Freshmen Deadline
March 1 Transfer Students Deadline

*Our reply deadline is May 1, 2023. However, if you need more time to make your decision, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Admissions Counselor.

Spring Admission

November 1 Freshmen and Transfer Students Deadline
January 15 Spring Deposit Deadline **

** All new students are required to pay a $250 non-refundable tuition deposit to hold their space and enroll in classes. This deposit is applied to your total tuition and is forfeited if you choose not to enroll.

What type of applicant are you?

First-Time Freshman

If you are currently in high school or have completed a high school equivalency and have not enrolled in a college program since completing your high school requirements, you will be applying as a first-time freshman. Please click the button above for details on how to apply.

Transfer Student

If you enrolled in a college program after meeting your high school requirements, you are considered a transfer student. Please click the button above for details on how to apply.

International Student

If you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you are considered an international student. Please click the button above for details on how to apply.

Special Status Student

KCAI offers the opportunity to enroll in degree courses on a semester basis, whether your goal is to strengthen your portfolio to pursue a Master’s degree, build your personal knowledge, and/or expand your skill sets. As a special status student, you would apply as a transfer student, though your portfolio and statement of purpose must clearly reflect and identify your goals during your time at KCAI. While no scholarships are offered for this part-time coursework, once admitted and enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours, you would receive a partial discount off of the per credit hour cost.
