Fireside Auxiliary "Feelin' Groovy" for KCAI Student Wellness Center, Scholarships
12.05.2024
Their most recent fundraiser benefited KCAI programs and showcased the Fireside Auxiliary's 2024-25 Scholarship Recipient - Jaden Green ('25 Painting).
Held at the Hallbrook Country Club, Feelin' Groovy highlighted the Fireside Auxiliary's fundraising efforts in 2024. Heading into December, the group had raised $11,143 for the Student Wellness Center. The Student Wellness Center is located on the 3rd floor of the Jannes Library and supports a Basic Needs Pantry, provides emergency grants for students, free access to medical and mental health resources and counseling.
In addition, the Fireside Auxiliary has raised more than $33,000 for the general KCAI scholarship fund. This is an important effort because 99% of KCAI students receive some form of financial aid, 43% are Pell Eligible, and 38% are first generation students.
This year's Fireside Endowed Scholarship recipient is Jaden Green - a KCAI Senior majoring in Painting. The Fireside Endowment has provided Jaden with more than $17,000 in scholarship money during the last 2 years.
Green is currently pursuing her BFA in Painting and Art History at the Kansas City Art Institute.
Green's work focuses on nostalgia, the natural world, whimsical spaces, life influences/experiences, and people.
She works with multiple media and processes including painting, drawing, ceramics, glass, sewing, and cyanotypes.
She often combines found imagery with her own images to create collages that are sometimes references for her paintings.
Her color palette is influenced by her childhood in Florida - incorporating bright blues, greens, purples, and pinks.
After graduation, Green hopes to become an elementary art teacher who inspires younger students and the next generation of creative minds to create their own work for years to come.

The Fireside Auxiliary transported visitors to the 1960s for this event - asking people to channel the spirit of the era in their outfits.
