Students at KCAI often seem happiest when working late into the night in their studios, but opportunities abound for other types of experiences throughout the academic year. Involvement in Student Organizations can have a positive impact on the overall experience of students by providing opportunities to meet new friends, connect with the campus and KC art community, as well as the development of valuable leadership skills.

New Student Orientation

New student orientation is a multi-day program designed to help new students meet friends, learn more about the KCAI campus culture and resources, and become acquainted with the Kansas City community.

Traditional Events + Activities

End-of-Semester Exhibition & Sale
Each fall and spring semester culminates with an exhibition and sale of student work in all departments. Proceeds from sales benefit both the departments and the individual students whose work is sold.

Artist Birthday Events
Each year, Campus Activities plans a traditional birthday celebration for a groundbreaking artist who has made a major impact on our world’s culture. Students can come enjoy some cake, party favors, and enter into a raffle for some cool birthday gifts (prizes).

Stress Relief Activities
Towards the end of each semester, during the two weeks of finals, Campus Activities will plan 2-3 events to help students destress.

Heart Week
Celebrated in February, Heart Week concentrates on promoting positive and consensual relationships. The week of activities is a collaboration with off-campus partners, such as MOCSA (the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault), Planned Parenthood, and KCAI’s Counseling office.

Halloween Dance
Probably the biggest event of the year, the Halloween Dance provides an opportunity for KCAI students to show off both their dance skills, and costuming abilities.
