KCAI Students Turn Goat Trailer in Kessler Park Into Public Art On Wheels
05.14.2025
A hardworking herd gets a colorful new home, thanks to KCAI students and a unique community collaboration goaded by Associate Professor of Illustration Héctor Casanova.
Just weeks before graduation, three KCAI Illustration seniors — Jay Williamson, Caroline Cramer, and Ella Hourigan — took on an unusual canvas: a mobile goat trailer tucked inside the lush, winding paths of Kessler Park. Their mural, now wrapping the trailer used in Jerusalem Farm’s Goat Local program, brings color, creativity, and curiosity to a hardworking herd that's helping to restore native landscapes.
The students designed and painted the mural in collaboration with Jerusalem Farm and the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association, transforming a functional shelter into a joyful visual story. The goats, who graze to remove invasive plants along Cliff Drive, now live inside a work of art — and they seem to enjoy the company (just steer clear of the electric fence).
It’s an unexpected intersection of art, ecology, and community — and a fitting final project for this graduating trio. Click here to read the full story and see more photos of the mural.
