Ann Johnson: Visibly Unseen
10.26.2023 - 03.03.2024
Visibly Unseen presents a selection of new and previous works by Ann Johnson, a.k.a. Ann 'Sole Sister' Johnson, as well as a special related collaboration with select KCAI students. Primarily an interdisciplinary artist, Johnson’s passion for exploring issues particularly in the Black community has led her to create various series of works that are evocative and engaging. Many of her works on display weave materials with tangential histories imprinting photo-imagistic narrative archives upon them, as well as the viewers. These include cotton, ironing boards, leaves, branches and other found objects. Ann 'Sole Sister' Johnson aspires to leave a legacy of challenging and thought provoking work that will entice the viewer and inspire younger artists.
