Big and Beautiful is an exhibition of large-scale works created by women artists, which included prints, drawings, paintings, and photographs by well-known and emerging contemporary artists working nationally and regionally. As representational image makers or obsessive mark makers, these artists explore a wide range of themes that include childhood, daily life and the physical environment, cultural and personal identity, systems for ordering and arranging, and ideas of drawing utilizing a variety of media.
Artists in the exhibition include: Louise Bourgeois, Deanna Dikeman, Alexa Horochowski, Julie Moos, Amy Myers, Kate Shepard, Lorna Simpson, Kiki Smith, May Tveit, Kara Walker, and Andrea Zittel.
The exhibition was curated by Raechell Smith, Director of H&R Block Artspace.
In conjunction with Big and Beautiful is the Project Wall presentation of Deanna Dikeman’s Leaving and Waving, 0/02.
