New Campus Academic Schedule
Beginning Fall 2026
Over the past three years, students and faculty have worked together to redesign the campus academic schedule.
The new schedule is designed to give you more flexibility, safer studio spaces, and a better balance between your major and electives.
Your Weekly Layout
The new structure designates specific days for major required courses while freeing up "Open Days" for Liberal Arts, electives, and minors.
Juniors & Seniors
Your required major courses will mostly meet Mon/Wed/Fri.
Sophomores
Your required major courses will mostly meet Tues/Thurs/Fri.
The "Open" Days
This structure frees up the opposite days for your Liberal Arts classes, electives, minors, or double major requirements.
The All-Campus Lunch
Duration: 1.5-hour common break for everyone.
The Goal: No more choosing between eating and attending student organization meetings or artist talks.
Why This Change?
Interdisciplinary Flexibility: More flexibility to finish your minor or take studios outside your major.
Safety & Space: Reduced "peak density" means less crowded, safer studios.
Support: More availability for students to connect with student support services, including academic advisors.
Work-Life Balance: The redesigned schedule aims to help students maintain a consistent work schedule.
How to Prepare
Check the Schedule: Review the Fall 2026 course schedule as soon as it is available on Wednesday, March 4.
Adjust Appointments: Reschedule any recurring medical or counseling appointments that conflict with the new times.
Talk to Your Boss: Review your work hours and speak with your supervisor about necessary adjustments.
