Historic Roof Replacement Underway at Vanderslice Hall, Circle Drive Closed and Entrances Adjusted
10.09.2025
Fencing and barricades have been placed around designated areas of Vanderslice Hall and the circle drive as crews prepare for the building’s first roof replacement since its completion in 1895.
As work begins on Vanderslice Hall’s long-awaited roof replacement, portions of campus access will be adjusted to ensure safety and efficiency. Here’s what to know while construction is underway.
Construction Schedule
A crane delivery is scheduled for Friday, October 10, in preparation for construction to begin on Monday, October 13 (weather permitting). Daily work hours are anticipated from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with construction expected to continue through the end of November.
Campus Access and Traffic Updates
The circle drive will be closed for the duration of the project. However, reserved and visitor parking beside Beals Studios will remain open. Entrances on the north side of Vanderslice will continue to provide access during construction.
Work will begin on the south side of Vanderslice Hall (facing the campus green) and progress clockwise around the building.
Pedestrian Safety and Detours
Students, faculty, and visitors should plan for alternate walking routes to access nearby buildings and studios. Please allow extra time when moving across campus, and follow all posted signs and barricades. Safety remains the top priority throughout the project.
