HousingHousing
Student housing is available in the Barbara Marshall Residence Hall on-campus, and the KCAI Studio Apartments close by. There are also numerous off-campus housing options in the surrounding neighborhoods, and along the nearby KC Streetcar line.
The Barbara Marshall Residence Hall
The Barbara Marshall Residence Hall is the center for student life on campus. Residents can relax in one of many common spaces and study lounges after a long day in the studio, unwind in the game room, or rev-up in the fitness center.
KCAI Studio Apartments
The KCAI Studio Apartments, located at 4535 Main Street, provide fully furnished studio-style housing for upper-division students. These single and double occupancy units include kitchenettes, are owned and managed by KCAI, and are a short 5-minute walk (0.3 miles) from the main campus.
Living Off-Campus
The KCAI campus is located in a residential neighborhood called Southmoreland, noted for tree-lined streets, large homes, and many apartment buildings from the 1920s.
KCAI is also just 0.3 miles from the KC Streetcar Art Museums stop.
KCAI wants students to have a living experience that supports their life as a student.
Students looking for off-campus housing should start early, explore nearby neighborhoods, and take the time to ask questions before signing any rental agreement.
Student Renter's Insurance Options
We recommend that students have insurance in place before moving into the Residence Hall or an off-campus property. KCAI is not responsible for damages to or losses of personal property.
Some families may be covered through their homeowners or renters insurance policies to cover a student’s belongings while they are in college.
