How Letters Get Their Shape: Alphabet in Motion
On view: November 4, 2026 - March 14, 2027
Presenting works surrounding the creation of the book, Alphabet in Motion, by designer, Kelli Anderson, this exhibition is one element of Anderson's visit to KCAI, which also includes a public lecture and special workshops with KCAI students. The exhibition, presented in partnership with the KCAI faculty Collaborative Practice Committee, invites viewers to experience Anderson's practice, form their own letters from templates, see her collaborations with KCAI students, and hear more about her research and process.
INNER WORKINGS
On view: November 4 - Dec 11, 2026
This exhibition welcomes viewers to explore the breadth of hidden processes that students engage with across KCAI. During the year, students’ works are behind studio doors, away from the possibility for the public to view. Curated by KCAI Gallery Durwood Interns Sanela Sabic and Lizi Roig, the exhibition spotlights the actions and decisions that come together to construct final pieces. One student from each department was chosen to represent their majors or minors with works that showcase a variety of material and conceptual processes. Alongside artworks are statements about how students’ studies have influenced decision making within their practice. From traditional methods to experimental explorations, INNER WORKINGS highlights the variety of considerations students bring to their work.
