Bernadette Esperanza Torres (’91 Ceramics)

Bernadette Esperanza Torres is a a storyteller who communicates with her hands translating stories into clay. Her sculptures are autobiographical narratives and her figurative and floral sculptures allow her to channel thoughts into beings and to push boundaries. She hand-builds soft slab female Mexican/Italian plus sized figures, flower mounds/platters incorporating animal imagery such as Java Sparrow Finch birds. Her artwork will be displayed at the Kansas City International Airport (MCI) Concourse B opening March 2023.
