2005 Kansas City Flatfile10/22/2005 - 12/17/2005
The 2005 Kansas City Flatfile includes a wide range of two-dimensional and time-based artworks by nearly 140 Kansas City artists. Originating in 2001 and in conjunction with the Pierogi Flatfiles exhibition at the Artspace, the 2005 Kansas City Flatfile is an interactive exhibition in which viewers browse through artist portfolios housed within flatfile cabinets or select video works to screen within the Videofile portion of the exhibition. This innovative exhibition approach provides visitors with a unique, personal viewing experience and a great opportunity to see a wide range of work by local artists.
During the exhibition, Artspace staff and guest curators from Kansas City and beyond select work from the Flatfile for a series of dynamic salon-style installations that changed on a weekly basis.
The Flatfile features two-dimensional work in all media including drawings, photography, prints and mixed media works on paper. The Videofile presents a selection of time based artwork in DVD and VHS formats.
