Sandoval and Carroll speak at Visiting Artists Presentation at the Nerman Museum
February 15, 2018 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Find out what motivates Alumna and Sculptor Angelica Sandoval and Photographer Patty Carroll at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art’s Third Thursday Visiting Artists Presentation on February 15 at 3:30 p.m.
Alumna Angelica Sandoval’s illuminated sculptural installations feature the nontraditional use of porcelain, highlighting its translucent and textural qualities. Sandoval says, “my passion lies with the experimentation of discovering a variety of materials’ limits, pushing them beyond their boundaries, removing the material from its original context and assigning a new identity. Angelica is an Associate Professor of Fine Arts at Johnson County Community College.
Patty Carroll is known for her intense, saturated color photographs. Her recent project, Anonymous Women, consists of a four-part series addressing women and their complicated relationships with domesticity. The latest narratives, Demise, Carroll states, “comment on the mania of collecting, accumulating and decorating a home. In the series, the objects take over, and the woman is crushed by her own possessions, leading to disaster and mayhem.”
