2016 Annual B.F.A. Exhibition

The H&R Block Artspace is pleased to present the 2016 Annual BFA Exhibition featuring new work by many of the 165 members of the 2016 graduating class of the Kansas City Art Institute.
As guest curators for the 2016 Annual BFA Exhibition, Madeline Gallucci (’12 printmaking) and Kendell Harbin (’13 art history & social practice) will work directly with participating artists to organize the exhibition and plan a range of public programs and events.
In 2016, Ellen Fullman (’79 sculpture) will serve as the 8th Annual Distinguished Alumni Speaker, with an artist talk on Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m., and a guest critic for select participants of the 2016 Annual BFA Exhibition.
Celebrated artist and educator Pablo Helguera will deliver the 2016 KCAI commencement address and serve as one of the awards jurors for the exhibition.
Madeline Gallucci and Kendell Harbin are practicing artists, educators, and currently serve as co-directors of Front/Space, an innovative exhibition space located in a repurposed storefront in the heart of the urban core of Kansas City. In support of programming that includes exhibitions and installations, readings, film screenings, workshops, and research and publishing projects, Front/Space has received funding and recognition from the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the Charlotte Street Foundation, and the Spencer Museum of Art at the University of Kansas. As active members of the Kansas City art community, Gallucci and Harbin have participated in regional and national residency programs, exhibitions, conferences, summits, and projects that advance and support creative communities and interdisciplinary practices. Madeline Gallucci received a BFA in printmaking from KCAI in 2012. Kendell Harbin received a BFA in Art History and Social Practice in 2013.
