Spring 2020 End of Semester Exhibition

Spring 2020 End of Semester Exhibition

Welcome to the Spring 2020 End of Semester Virtual Exhibition. While our world was turned upside down by the COVID-19 crisis, our students adapted to new ways of working in their homes, sometimes without access to the equipment that had become crucial to their studio practice. With grit and determination, our students found new ways to create and to push their creative practice to new lengths. Enjoy this exhibition which is a culmination of a semester characterized by change and adaptation.

Many of the artworks are for sale by the artists*. Please read our notice on the sale of artwork at the bottom of this page.

Lead Bank Emerging Artist Nominees - Spring 2020

Each year Lead Bank Recognizes four students and their respective departments with their Lead Emerging Artist Prize (LEAP). Each student receives a financial award of $500 per student and $200 for their department. Additionally, the four LEAP award recipients will be featured with a solo art exhibition at the bank’s Crossroads branch at 1801 Main Street for approximately three months beginning this summer. Each year the KCAI faculty are asked to nominate the students they believe are deserving of this award. Below are this year’s nominees. Their work can also be found in their departmental exhibitions.

The criteria includes:

  • Must be a Freshman, Sophomore or Junior during the current academic year
  • Must have artwork on display at the spring End-of-Semester Exhibition
  • Academic achievement – must be in the top 50% of their class
  • Demonstrates a focused commitment to their contemporary art practice

The Kansas City Art Institute is providing a virtual exhibition of KCAI student work as entertainment to the public. The views, information, or opinions expressed during the KCAI End of Semester Exhibition are solely those of the individual students involved and do not necessarily represent those of the Kansas City Art Institute or its employees. If you choose to contact a student to purchase their work you see in this virtual exhibition or any other work in their collection, it is important to note that KCAI is not a part of that transaction or communication. By entering into a transaction with the student, you understand that you are not buying directly from KCAI, but from one of the many talented KCAI students. KCAI does not pre-screen the student work and therefore does not guarantee or endorse any item they may sell or any content posted by students on their own website or social media platform. When you buy from a KCAI student, you are directly supporting a local Kansas City artist, with their own unique listings, policies, and payment systems. Each student has their own processing time, shipping methods, and sets their own pricing. KCAI is not liable for any loss, damages, or disputes arising between you and the student seller. Any action you take in purchasing work from the student is at your own risk.
