Scholarship renewal policy

KCAI Merit scholarships are renewable annually for full time students with a cumulative 3.0 GPA.  KCAI reviews and determines renewal eligibility upon completion of the academic year.  For those students who do not qualify, the following amounts will be awarded:

2.75 to 2.99         95% of original award

2.5 to 2.74           90% of original award

2.0 to 2.49           85% of original award

Below a 2.0         75% of original award

If at the end of the academic year a student’s cumulative GPA is below a 3.0, the student can file for a scholarship probation hearing by contacting Financial Aid. The deadline to file is July 1. After the hearing, the student will be given an additional year, referred to as a scholarship probation year, to meet scholarship requirements. In that scholarship probation year, the student’s scholarship will be renewed in full.  At the end of the scholarship probation year, the student’s GPA for the year must be a 3.0 or above. Students with a probation-year GPA below a 3.0 will have their scholarships reduced based on the percentages above. All decisions that occur at the end of the probation year are final, and will remain in place until the student’s cumulative GPA returns to a 3.0 or higher.
