About Artist: From the time she could pick up a crayon, Rita (attended ’52-’53 painting) has not stopped making art. Her creative journey spanning more than 80 years, has encompassed many mediums and processes: from the discovery that her drawings can become sculpture up to 60 feet tall to the realization that her black lines flow more powerfully from two hands at once ___and that color can be added in the same manner. She loves music and dance which she uses as inspiration, her work seems to just dance no matter the medium she is working in.
About this show:
This show will have large canvases, works on paper with color and also black lines only and sketches that flow so beautifully.
It has taken months for MLB collaborating, details and selections with the invaluable help of Rita Blitt and Colleen Nilson. The show is curated by Marie Bertholet Smith
At the same time as the Opening at MLB Gallery, there is to be a Grand opening of the Rita Blitt Gallery and Sculpture Garden at the Mulvane Museum on the campus of Washburn University. Opening Reception will be on November 3. For more details go the Mulvane’s website.
