Question + Explore + Learn + Grow
The visual resources department manages KCAI’s collection of digital images, which span the history of art from pre-historic times to the latest contemporary work.
The collection contains images of paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, architecture, fiber work, ceramics, furniture, videos, performance and design. The collection is utilized mainly by faculty members in the classroom and in studio. It also is used by students for research and for use in papers and presentations.
Through a hosting agreement with ARTstor, 7,200 of KCAI’s digital images are available online for students to search and download. ARTstor offers its own collection of more than one million images licensed for use in teaching and research. By default, searches for images on the ARTstor site will include the collections of both ARTstor and KCAI simultaneously.
Jannes Library staff members are available to assist with the ARTstor image database, including assistance establishing personal accounts, creating folders and uploading images.
Visual resources librarian Deborah Tinsley will create digital images upon request. Requests must be submitted on a visual resource request form, available at the library circulation desk, or available by email. All images produced by the visual resource department are the property of KCAI. Orders for up to 50 digital images require 10 days advance notice. Larger orders may require more time. For more information about digital image requests contact Deborah Tinsley at firstname.lastname@example.org or 816-802-3395.
